INSTRUCTORS

Chilkoot instructors are experienced outdoor leaders with decades of guiding and teaching experience around the world, including Alaska, the lower 48 states, and destinations such as Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, China, Russia, Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Antarctica, and Mexico.

They bring technical expertise in climbing, kayaking, rafting, and backcountry travel, combined with deep knowledge of risk management, client care, and group dynamics. This balance of hard skills and leadership skills ensures every scout receives high-quality instruction and support in the field.

Chilkoot High Adventure Base operates as a division of International Wilderness Leadership School (IWLS), an organization recognized for its scope of programming, technical competence, and practical leadership experience.

Chilkoot instructors are professional guides with extensive field experience in some of the most demanding environments on the planet. Their risk management expertise and technical proficiency set a high standard for wilderness leadership training.
